Kilronan School, Magherafelt

S5

Welcome to our School Leavers' Class.

Post 16 provision in Kilronan offers students opportunities and experiences which will assist them in making the transition from school to adulthood.  The School Leavers' Programme incorporates the following areas of study;

  1. Independent Living Skills
  2. Personal Development
  3. Communication and Number
  4. Vocational Skills
  5. Use of Leisure
  6. I.C.T
  7. Environment and Society

Within each area of study are a number of units which may lead to external accreditation through CCEA Life Skills and Extended Life Skills, CCEA Occupational Studies and OCR Learning for Life and Work.

When students enter the School Leavers Programme, the programme is designed to meet the diverse needs of all our young people. It is tailored towards individual pupil needs, their interests and aspirations.  It takes into account individual ability and future learning and/or career pathways.

Students are encouraged to become increasingly independent learners as much as possible to prepare them for everyday life and lifelong learning. This includes fostering attitudes and dispositions to support personal skills, active citizenship and employability.

We hope you enjoy looking at all the exciting things we get up to, to help us prepare for life after school.
