J6 have been enjoying their topic of Dragons, Castles, Knights and Princesses. We loved the story of Zog by Julia Donaldson and completed some excellent follow up work relating to the story. Some of us were able to identify the medical problems and the medical solutions in each part of the story. We decorated our door for World Book day in a Zog theme and we painted fabulous dragons. Mrs Ambrose even dressed up as Princess Pearl out of the story for World Book Day! Our topic tied in really well with the theme for World Book Day: Hero’s, Villains and Princesses. We had fun looking for princesses and superhero’s in the sensory garden.
We have been exploring symmetry in Numeracy and have made some lovely symmetrical castles. In activity based learning we have built castles out of magna tiles and various blocks but our favourite of all was making a large castle out of cardboard. We used peg boards to make flags and enjoyed recreating the story of The Princess and The Pea using sponges for mattresses and frozen peas and brussel sprouts!
We are looking forward to next week as we are hoping to visit a real castle. Please check back to see more photos!
