During Term 1, S1’s topic was ‘Growth and Apples’. Firstly we looked at the parts of an apple and learned how to label these. We also focused on the life cycle of an apple and the different stages involved. This topic also allowed for some fun Numeracy and Literacy activities. In Numeracy, we focused on the concepts of ‘more than’ and ‘less than’. We also developed our financial capability skills where we chose the correct coins required to buy apples at different prices. In Literacy, we looked at ‘apple adjectives’. In Art, we focused on a painting of an apple tree at sunset. We completed this in different stages each week. In Home Economics, we followed our visual recipes to make an apple smoothie and apple crumble… they were both delicious!
