Today marks our first full week back at school. We are so proud of how everyone has settled back into school after such a long break. It has been lovely to get reacquainted with everyone and see how much they all have grown! Our topic has focused on J5's Road to Success. It has been great fun learning about various modes of transport. We made our own jam jar lid boats which we raced during our social skills group, and have had had fun playing guessing and memory games. During music today we played instruments to add sound effects to the song 'We all go travelling by'. We looked at visual aids of a fast sports car and an old rusty vintage car and talked about how they were different. We decided that when the fast car was held up we would play our instruments very fast and when the old car was held up we would play nice and slowly. As it was a Friday and we have all been so good we made some chocolate racing cars as a special treat. We watched the chocolate chips melt and change from solid pieces into a thick gooey liquid. The children were SUPER at following instructions; they counted out four smarties to use as wheels, one for a steering wheel and chose their favourite colour of jelly baby to be the driver. They then used the melted chocolate like glue to apply all these to a chocolate bar. Everyone was so proud of their creations and couldn't wait to eat them!!
