We have been very busy throughout our first half term in J4. We have been exploring our 'Little Explorers' topic with a focus on Jungle animals and Minibeasts. We took on the role of the explorers in our Jungle Role Play area and used magnifying glasses and binoculars to spot Minibeasts and Jungle animals. We focused on the colours, sounds, patterns and names of different animals and identified these. One of our favourite weeks was when we explored what these animals ate and made some Jungle fruit juice. We explored new tastes, textures and smells as we cut up and prepared the watermelon, pineapple and strawberries before blending these together. We learnt the meaning of the word 'camouflaged' and then sorted animals based on their print and hid them in sand, straw and leaves depending on their colour. In our numeracy we explored adding with minibeasts and counting and making sets. We also sorted using a range of criteria- size, colour and weight. In J4 we loved exploring our topic through our Play Based Learning approach. Have a look at the pictures to see some of our lovely learning experiences.
