S1 arrived back to school in the New Year refreshed and ready for their new topic- Chocolate! One experience pupils were given was to taste a variety of chocolate sweets and record their preferences for or against the taste. Chocolate was a big motivator and all engaged in the tasting lesson. Mathematical concepts of counting and sorting were reinforced. Results were also collated into a chart which was displayed in the classroom.
S1 pupils discovered that chocolate was not just for eating. Pupils experimented with chocolate by changing it. They melted their chocolate pieces by heating them. This made the chocolate soft and runny. Pupils demonstrated their creativity by using thin paintbrushes to mark make on black card with their melted chocolate. A sensory art lesson enjoyed by all!
