Polar Lands

22nd Jan 2019

It's cold outside but J3 are learning about even colder places as they explore the Arctic and Antarctica! We have learnt lots of interesting facts about penguins, polar bears and other arctic creatures. We learnt that the Emperor penguin is the tallest penguin and the Little Blue penguin is the smallest. It was great fun predicting whether we are taller or smaller than an Emperor penguin and then checking to see if we were right by measuring ourselves alongside a life size Emperor penguin! Some of us are the same size, one of us is taller and the majority of our class are smaller than an Emperor Penguin as they are 120cm tall. We used Greenscreen to pretend we visited the Antarctic to see the Penguins.  On Monday we went for a lovely walk to see the beautiful snowdrops at Springhill. The snowdrops are very brave little flowers as they bloom in Winter, the coldest time of the year. You can imagine our excitement when it started to snow when we were in school this morning; we just couldn't wait to get outside and play!!
