Science Week 2021
We linked two of our science experiments to our topic Building and Construction. Our first experiment was a hands on activity linked to our story The Three Little Pigs. The children were encouraged to select materials such as plastic cups, spools, straw and bricks. We used the hair dryer to test these materials to find out which one was able to stand independently. We used the language from the book “I’ll Huff and I’ll Puff and I’ll blow your house down”. The children thoroughly enjoyed this activity.
For our our second topic related experiment we focused on the Nursery Rhyme Humpty Dumpty. To begin we listened to our song and built a wall for Humpty Dumpty. As a class we were able to make predications on the safest material to keep Humpty Dumpty Safe. The children were able to test their predications by using materials such as bubble wrap, the floor, bricks and a bean bag. The children absolutely loved watching the eggs crack on the floor.
To finish science week we took learning outdoors for our coke and mentos activity😀
