On Wednesday afternoon’s S7 enjoy participating in a variety of STEM challenges. During our Atlantic Slave Trade topic we learned how ships travelled from Africa to America to transport slaves.
Pupils learned about the poor conditions of these ships and decided that they would like to make their own ships.
Pupils used a variety of materials to make their ships before setting them a-sail across the ‘Atlantic Ocean’.
Some of our ships didn’t make it across the Atlantic Ocean and we had to investigate a variety of materials which float and materials which sink to be able to improve our engineering skills and redesign our ships.
Pupils fully engaged in races to see which ship would make it across the Atlantic Ocean without sinking.
