Our topic ‘The Books of Julia Donaldson’ has provided us with lots of wonderful learning opportunities. We loved the story of the Smartest Giant in Town. A giant visited our class and left huge footprints. We measured them using standard and nonstandard units and discovered they were much bigger than ours. We designed new ties for the giant and thought about qualities to describe the giant that we could put on his crown. During STEM activities we thought about ways to help the dog cross the bog and designed boats for the goat. We love all the rhyming words in Julia Donaldson’s stories and are very good at identifying rhyming pairs. The Highway Rat, Zog,The Snail and the Whale and the The Stick Man are other stories which we have enjoyed. We made pinwheel snails and completed lots of activities related to these stories.
