J4 thoroughly enjoyed their last topic, ‘To Infinity and Beyond’. We enjoyed exploring our topic with a multi sensory approach and including this theme in all aspects of the Northern Ireland Curriculum. Within Numeracy we enjoyed directing the BeeBot spaceship to collect the astronauts in outer space and using the space dart board to find numbers to use for our addition, subtraction and number bonds. We loved exploring and listening to sensory stories particularly ‘Whatever Next!’, which we enjoyed sequencing and travelling in the cardboard box to the moon. We enjoyed other stories for example, ‘How to catch a star’, ‘Aliens Love Underpants’ and ‘Zoom, Zoom, Zoom’. In our topic work we went on a journey to the moon, explored each planet with a sensory approach and made glow in the dark rockets to name a few. This was a super topic to engage all of our learners in space themed Play Based Learning and especially our new role play corner, the spaceship.
