Through whole group lessons and Activity Based Learning the pupils explored what life was like in the past. To begin our topic we found a time capsule that contained a letter, pictures and items from the Victorian times and as a group we enjoyed finding out what these items were used for. Following on from this, we looked at Victorian Workhouses; we made gruel during cookery, and created some Victorian themed silhouettes. To extend our knowledge we traveled on the bus to an old house with a range of antiques used in the past.
To conclude our topic we had a Victorian day in school and the pupils were very excited to dress up in Victorian clothing and experience what it would have been like as a child growing up in the 1800’s.
